Cerulean spray awakens the day,
The whitecapped froth an overlay
To seaweed beds, to brown moray,
And tall white cliffs above the sand.
No dirges playing in the hall;
No more sermons about the Fall!
Now climb aboard, come one and all,
And bid farewell to treasured land.
Toss up the rope and knot it quick!
Roll up that anchor—see it drip!
As we shove out, it’s only fit
To see our lovers wave good-bye.
Soon we sail through glassy seas;
The canvas billows in the breeze.
Now we can rest and sit at ease,
And twixt the wind our song will fly.
A fair current is all we ask,
And sunny skies so we can bask;
On open sea, the turquoise glass
Splashes with our ringing shouts!
Adventure, treasure, beyond the view
Of home’s lagoon, of safety too,
Beyond that far horizon blue,
We forge ahead with zero doubts.
And as the sunset falls to sleep,
Our hull cuts smoothly through the deep.
Hate us not, our wives who weep:
The far unknown has drawn us out!
